One of the most difficult things to grapple with is when peaceful people are attacked or even killed.
Many of those kidnapped, injured or killed by the terrorist group Hamas were peace activists who worked for the Palestinian people or for other vulnerable populations in the world.
Shoshan is an example of one woman who was doing amazing work to help African women become farmers and business owners, bringing wealth to them and their families before she and her family were presumably kidnapped by Hamas from her home in Kibbutz Be’eri in Israel with 9 other family members on October 7th.
‘Shoshan Haran is the founder of Fair Planet, an internationally acclaimed farming project that over the last decade has enabled tens of thousands of previously impoverished farmers to earn a good living while providing an estimated million Africans with a reliable source of food. The project has been growing steadily in Ethiopia, Tanzania and Rwanda and has the potential to expand exponentially to many more millions suffering from hunger. The hopefully temporary absence of Shoshan will be felt by hundreds and thousands of people on the continent of Africa and beyond. It’s only right that we do all we can to help free her, her family and other peacemakers like her who have been inhumanely kidnapped.
In addition, several elders who were kidnapped worked to serve the Palestinian people of Gaza. One survivor from the kibbutzim whose grandparents used to transport Palestinian cancer patients to their appointments, testified of their works and those of other liberals helping Palestinians in the kibbutzim and said in his news interview ‘Hamas has just stolen your future’ by killing or injuring some of the people who helped you the most in Israeli society. He pleaded with them to do something because Hamas is an enemy to all of us. Since I wrote this article, his grandmother has been released after 2 weeks but his grandfather is still being held.
Why do you think Hamas wanted to destroy people working for peace? Who do they really represent and what is their mission? Something to think about. If you connect the dots, it makes sense to come to the conclusion that peacemakers are actually enemies of their cause.
According to their manifesto, Hamas doesn’t want peace with Israel, they want to eradicate Israel as a state for Jews - bloodline or converted, black or white - or anyone descended from the 12 tribes of Israel and make it an Islamic state under Sharia law which is a danger to us all.
This is what Yah’s word says about rewarding evil for good or attacking peaceful neighbors:
- Proverbs 3:29 “Do not plan evil against your neighbor, who dwells trustingly beside you.”
- Pr. 24.28 “Don’t testify against your neighbors without cause; don’t lie about them.”
- Proverbs 17:13 Evil will never leave the house of one who pays back evil for good.
- Psalm 35:12 They repay me evil for good, To the bereavement of my soul.
- Psalm 38:20 And those who repay evil for good,They oppose me, because I follow what is good.
- Psalm 109:5 Thus they have repaid me evil for good And hatred for my love.
- Proverbs 17:13 He who returns evil for good, Evil will not depart from his house.
- Jeremiah 18:20 Should good be repaid with evil? For they have dug a pit for me. Remember how I stood before You To speak good on their behalf, So as to turn away Your wrath from them.
- Psalm 7:4 If I have rewarded evil to my friend, Or have plundered him who without cause was my adversary,
By attacking people of peace including children, elderly, sick, women, Hamas has shown itself to be one of the most ruthless terrorist groups in history. Let us put aside all differences and stand for peace, righteousness, justice, freedom for all people worldwide.
As the world prays and calls for the safety of Palestinian children and innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of this war in Gaza, let people of conscience of all religions also condemn this barbaric and inhumane violence against peaceful unarmed civilians in Israel. Let us also remember those sufferng in Ethiopia, Congo and other parts of the world. Call for the release of all innocent children, peacemakers and civilians being held by #hamas in #gaza.
